What is self-care? How much is taking care of ourselves dependent on taking care of others? How much is taking care of others dependent on taking care of ourselves? Where is the line between being selfish and selfless? Self Care is Service explores the concept of self-care and asks these questions to begin understanding the interdependence of self-care and communal care, pulling on writings of love and care as understood by bell hooks and Clara Saez Calabuig, dismantling the idea of a commodified and individualized concept of self-care, instead celebrating self-care as service to others.
